The CT Technologist performs diagnostic CT (computed tomography) scans including diagnostic radiology procedures on patients. Evaluates image quality and utilizes proper radiation safety practices at the direction of a radiologist and/or other providers. Performs diagnostic studies according to specific guidelines and prescribed protocols while utilizing appropriate radiation protection measures.

  • Provides professional, empathetic, and compassionate care to team members, patients, families, and significant others.
  • Greets patients and their families, assists patients with dressing/undressing, transports or ambulates patients, and assists patients with comfort needs.
  • Demonstrates working knowledge of equipment and safety practices in the areas of responsibility.
  • Exhibits competency and skills needed to perform radiology procedures according to manufacturer, medical/department standards and protocols, and sets appropriate technical parameters to accurately demonstrate anatomy and pathology.
  • Demonstrates competency in intravenous access and administration of contrast in accordance with established protocols.
  • Provides practical instruction for patients, families, and other health care professionals.
  • Applies critical thinking skills and ensures order accuracy when triaging and prioritizing patients.
  • Practices safety at all times, which includes adhering to ALARA (as low as reasonably achievable) principles for proper radiation safety for self and patients.
  • Completes documentation on time and accurately in accordance with department policy/procedure including proper image management and accurate documentation in electronic medical record.
  • Performs EKGs.
  • Measures and fits ambulation aids and applies restraints.
  • Splints as necessary.
  • High School diploma or GED preferred.
  • Must be 18 years of age.
  • Graduate of an accredited radiography program.
  • American Registry Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) certification.
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Wisconsin license.
