About The Position

The CT Technologist I-IV utilizes Computed Tomography (CT) scanners to capture specific images ordered by a physician to aid in patient diagnosis. This position is full-time and requires working weekend nights from 6:30 PM to 7:00 AM. The role involves performing procedures as ordered, obtaining images according to written protocols, and ensuring high-quality diagnostic images are delivered. The technologist will also be responsible for equipment calibration, quality control, and maintaining a safe environment for patients and staff.

Requirements

  • Graduate of a JCERT approved school of Radiologic Sciences Program.
  • Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Computer Tomography (CT) or eligible to take the registry and must become registered within 12 months of hire.
  • Certified by the Texas Medical Board (TMB) as a Medical Radiologic Technologist (MRT).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, course accredited by the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC) by first day of employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Radiology (R).
  • Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) as a Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist.
  • Associates Degree in Radiologic Sciences.

Responsibilities

  • Performs procedures as ordered and obtains images according to written protocols.
  • Positions patients appropriately using immobilization and protective equipment as needed.
  • Organizes and accurately performs the individual steps in established procedures in the proper sequence.
  • Reviews, manipulates, and evaluates images to deliver high quality diagnostic images.
  • Start-up and calibrate Computed Tomography system daily.
  • Reviews orders with Radiologist to determine proper protocol for each procedure.
  • Administers IV contrast with proper dosage and documents according to department policy.
  • Performs and documents quality control on equipment according to manufacturer guidelines or department protocols.
  • Reports equipment problems and failures to Bio-Medical or Manager.
  • Ensures a safe and clean environment with all necessary supplies needed to perform studies and procedures.
  • Applies and follows radiation safety principles to ensure patient and staff safety.
  • Engages in equitable distribution of departmental workloads.
  • Understands and uses Picture Archival Computer System (PACS), Electronic Medical Records (EMR), and other software related to job responsibilities.
