About the position

The CT Technologist performs routine and specialized CT radiologic procedures at an advanced skills level. This includes producing computerized tomographic scanner radiographs of designated anatomical areas according to established practices and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Performs CT Scan Radiology studies; obtains patient history, explains routine procedures and addresses patient concerns.
  • Under the direct supervision of the physician, administers intravenous contrast media and recognizes complications (e.g., contrast reaction) and treats appropriately.
  • Schedules cases to coordinate with other patient examinations.
  • Positions and transfers patients comfortably and immobilizes patients as necessary while practicing radiation safety procedures.
  • Performs duties as on call technologist and trains new staff.
  • Has passed the CT specialty exam as per ARRT.
  • Performs the duties of Radiographer as needed.
  • Prepares and maintains written documentation as required by the profession and the department.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span of the assigned patient population.
  • Assesses and interprets patient age specific data and provides appropriate, age specific treatment.
  • Maintains established policies and procedures, objectives, quality assessment, safety, environmental and infection control standards.
  • Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, inservice meetings, and workshops.
  • Supervises, assists and evaluates students in the clinical education setting.
  • Requests and orders supplies as necessary to keep materials on hand at all times.
  • Appropriately segments and archives images and exams to the PACS archive.
  • Maintains orderliness and cleanliness of work areas and/or patient rooms.

Requirements

  • Associates Degree Required.
  • 2 years Related experience Required.
  • Registered Technologist-Computed Tomography - ARRT Upon Hire Required or Certified in Computed Tomography - NMTCB Upon Hire Required.
  • Basic Life Support Upon Hire Required.
  • Accredited program in radiologic technology and training in computer tomography procedures Upon Hire Required.
