About The Position

The CT Tech 2 arranges patients for Computed Tomography examinations. Produces CT images to aid in the diagnosis of medical problems. Prevents patient from being exposed to unnecessary radiation. Ensures patient safety by using pre-established imaging protocols, and screens patients for safe administration of contrast media. Utilizes departmental policy to perform safe operation of equipment and all functions of the job. Provides complete pre and post education to patients and family. Reports to Supervisor or Manager. Able to evaluate competency level of others.

Requirements

  • 2 Years Graduate of accredited Radiologic Technologist Program.
  • Current State License.
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists, ARRT (R) or Registry Eligible.
  • Computed Tomography, CT.
  • Basic Life Support, BLS - HCP.
  • Exhibit working knowledge of all CT equipment and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Arrange patients for Computed Tomography examinations.
  • Produce CT images to aid in the diagnosis of medical problems.
  • Prevent patient from being exposed to unnecessary radiation.
  • Ensure patient safety by using pre-established imaging protocols.
  • Screen patients for safe administration of contrast media.
  • Utilize departmental policy to perform safe operation of equipment.
  • Provide complete pre and post education to patients and family.
  • Evaluate competency level of others.
  • Coordinate CT schedule with other areas to prevent patient waiting.
  • Correct and report accidents, incidents and safety hazards.
  • Use PPE when appropriate.
  • Adhere to infection control practices.
  • Ask females of childbearing age if they may be pregnant.
  • Use proper Radiation shielding for pediatric patients and patients in childbearing age.
  • Perform proper tube warm-up for all x-ray equipment.
  • Report all equipment problems to chief technologist.
  • Complete Exam Data Entry fields on all exams.
  • Document all pertinent information, i.e., patient history, tech initials.
  • Assist in other areas of the department as workload permits.
  • Keep areas well stocked at all times.
