About The Position

The CT Tech 2 arranges patients for Computed Tomography examinations and produces CT images to aid in the diagnosis of medical problems. This role is crucial in preventing patients from being exposed to unnecessary radiation and ensuring patient safety by using pre-established imaging protocols. The CT Tech 2 screens patients for the safe administration of contrast media and utilizes departmental policy to perform safe operation of equipment and all functions of the job. Additionally, the position involves providing complete pre and post education to patients and their families, evaluating the competency level of others, and reporting to the Supervisor or Manager.

Requirements

  • 1 year of experience as a CT Tech.
  • Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technologist Program.
  • Current State License.
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists, ARRT (R).
  • Computed Tomography, CT certification.
  • Basic Life Support, BLS - HCP certification.

Responsibilities

  • Arrange patients for Computed Tomography examinations.
  • Produce CT images to aid in the diagnosis of medical problems.
  • Prevent patient exposure to unnecessary radiation.
  • Ensure patient safety using pre-established imaging protocols.
  • Screen patients for safe administration of contrast media.
  • Utilize departmental policy for safe operation of equipment.
  • Provide complete pre and post education to patients and families.
  • Evaluate competency level of others.
  • Report to Supervisor or Manager.
  • Coordinate CT schedule with other areas to prevent patient waiting.
  • Correct and report accidents, incidents, and safety hazards.
  • Use PPE when appropriate.
  • Adhere to infection control practices.
  • Ask females of childbearing age if they may be pregnant.
  • Use proper radiation shielding for pediatric patients and patients in childbearing age.
  • Wear film badge to monitor radiation exposure.
  • Complete Annual Mandate Radiation Safety training.
  • Perform proper tube warm-up for all x-ray equipment.
  • Report all equipment problems to chief technologist.
  • Complete Exam Data Entry fields on all exams.
  • Document all pertinent information, including patient history and tech initials.
  • Assist in other areas of the department as workload permits.
  • Keep areas well stocked at all times.
