About The Position

The CT Technologist is responsible for preparing patients by establishing necessary intravenous medications (IV) and administering oral and/or IV contrast media. They produce computerized tomography scans by entering patient data, programming the scanner, and the power injector. The technologist evaluates the quality of images and films, utilizes radiation protection devices and protocols, and follows infection control policies and procedures. They also schedule and charge patients, retrieve films, and facilitate physician/patient inquiries. Additionally, the technologist explains exams and procedures, acquires patient history, and monitors the safety and comfort of patients throughout the exam.

Requirements

  • Completion of American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) approved Radiologic Technology or Nuclear Technology program.
  • Must be currently registered by the American registry of radiologic technologists (ARRT), the Canadian association of medical radiation technologists (CAMRT), or the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB).
  • Must maintain continuing education credits per biennium to retain registry status in compliance with the CE requirements of the certifying organization for the imaging modality in which services are performed.
  • At least 2 of these credits must be in CT.
  • Document at least 20 hours of training and experience in operating CT equipment, radiation physics, and radiation protection or have the advanced certification in computed tomography from the ARRT.
  • One-year work experience in general diagnostic radiology.
  • Certification or re-certification in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) within three months of hire.
  • Ability to lift up to a maximum of 35lbs and perform push/pull tasks that require a maximum force of 35 lbs.

Nice To Haves

  • ARRT(CT), and/or must obtain the ARRT(CT) within one year of hire.
  • One year of experience performing CT scans.
