About The Position

Under general direction of the Director of Radiology /Manager, performs imaging procedures to aid physician in diagnosis and treatments. Performs other related work as assigned/required. Employees within this class perform the full range of radiographic examinations and Computerized Tomography (CT) including the ability to work independently, exercise judgment, and take initiative to complete a specific assignment. The education and experience that provides the required knowledge to operate as a Computerized Tomography (CT) Technologist is as listed:

Requirements

  • Completion of an ACR or ARRT recognized accredited program in Radiology Technology/Graduate of a JCERT hospital-based radiology technology program is required
  • A minimum of one year of experience in performing technical work which must have included as primary responsibility: radiographic examinations, and following: computerized tomography (CT).
  • Possession of valid California CRT license, Fluoroscopy Certification
  • Current BLS
  • ARRT required
  • Specialized training in CT
  • Center for Medicare/Medicaid Services (CMS) requires the following criteria for Licensure/Certification as a requirement to operate a CT scanner: September 1, 2016 - a technologist must possess both an ARRT (RT) and CRT license. January 1, 2018 – a technologist in addition to both ARRT (RT) and CRT licensure must be certified as a Computerized Tomography Technologist (CT) by the ARRT.
  • Knowledge of Hospital established policies quality assurance program, safety, environmental and infection control policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of The more common radiology equipment and instruments used in a hospital setting, basic radiography and Computerized Tomography (CT).
  • Knowledge of Anatomy and Physiology.
  • Knowledge of Processing and evaluating quality images.
  • Ability to Operate equipment used in Radiology, and Computerized Tomography (CT).
  • Ability to Understand, interpret, and apply rules, regulations, standards, and procedures.
  • Ability to Learn quickly the specific operations of a Radiology Department.
  • Ability to Keep abreast of developments in the field of expertise.
  • Ability to Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to Prepare and maintain records and reports. (Written and electronic).
  • Ability to Work effectively under stress and in emergency situations.
  • Ability to Establish and maintain effective working relationships with the public, physicians and fellow employees.
  • Ability to Manage emergency or crisis situations; requires judgment/action which could result in undesirable patient outcomes.
  • Maintains, demonstrates and is assessed on the knowledge and skills necessary to provide for physical, psychosocial and cultural needs appropriate to the age of the patients served on his/her assigned unit.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s degree in Radiology Technology is desired.
