About The Position

Performs routine diagnostic & special CT/radiology service as ordered, providing care and treatment to patients. Assists radiologist and physicians when necessary. In addition to a diagnostic radiology registry, the employee must hold registry in CT. Must consistently show proficiency in that modality in addition to diagnostic radiology and meet the standards established in the yearly competency. Board registered in two modalities, one being diagnostic radiology.

Requirements

  • Must possess Radiological Technologist license through the West Virginia Board of Radiologic Technologists.
  • Registered in Radiography by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
  • Registered in Computed Tomography with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT).
  • CPR certification.

Nice To Haves

  • One (1) year of imaging experience.
  • Nine (9) months of computed tomography experience.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares patient for radiographic examinations; explains procedures prior to testing and answers patient questions relating to ordered exam.
  • Positions patients properly according to type of protocol examinations; selects proper equipment and supplies for patients and provides radiation protection during examinations.
  • Follows established protocols and post processing procedures.
  • Is responsible for reporting any equipment that is not in proper working condition to the director or manager so they can call for service.
  • Maintains supplies in clean and sterile conditions; transports contaminated instruments and devices to Central Processing for proper sterilization. Ensures accurate charging.
  • Instructs and cross-trains new technicians in proper methods and procedures regarding routine diagnostic exams performed in the Radiology department.
  • Performs sterile and isolation techniques; follows all OSHA standards.
  • Performs various routine exams and procedures established by radiologists.
  • Maintains continuing education on procedures and techniques in order to perform examinations of high quality. Complies with the advanced certification requirements and is registered in CT. Follows ALARA. This will be reviewed on a yearly bases.
  • Maintains work area in a clean and orderly condition to prevent spread of infection or disease to patients, visitors and personnel.
  • Properly assesses patient information on electronic medical record system. Charges, changes, adds information as necessary to keep records accurate. Can assess patient lab records, etc as needed through system. Logs off after using computer and is also responsible for verifying pre-certification of insurance for procedures that require it. Ensures all completed images are on PACS.
