About The Position

The CT technologist will demonstrate professionalism and service excellence when performing various tasks related to patient care and imaging procedures. This role involves obtaining necessary medical, surgical, and radiological supplies for specific procedures according to established protocols, maintaining sterility of the field and instruments, and preparing requisitions correctly. The technologist will communicate with patients and their families before, during, and after procedures to alleviate anxiety while ensuring the privacy and dignity of the patient. Adherence to HIPAA regulations and verification of patient identification according to AHS policy are critical responsibilities. The technologist will observe patients' conditions before and after contrast injections, report any sudden changes to nursing staff and the Radiologist, and ensure the availability of medical records and previous reports. In case of complications, the technologist can initiate emergency responses and maintain adequate supplies in scanning rooms. The role also includes participating in daily inventory and cleaning tasks, ensuring efficient workflow, and maintaining communication with all departments regarding patient status.

Requirements

  • ARRT RT (R) certification.
  • ARRT RT (CT) certification.
  • NJDEP – New Jersey State X-Ray License.
  • BLS Certification.
  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Completion of a Radiographer Technical training program from a School of Radiography or a College-based Radiography program.

Responsibilities

  • Obtains necessary medical, surgical, and radiological supplies for specific procedures according to established protocols.
  • Maintains sterility of the field and instruments.
  • Correctly prepares requisitions.
  • Communicates with the patient and family before, during, and after the procedure to alleviate anxiety while maintaining the privacy and dignity of the patient.
  • Adheres to all HIPAA regulations and respects the patient's privacy.
  • Verifies patient identification according to the AHS policy.
  • Observes patient’s condition before and after contrast injections and reports any sudden change to the nursing staff and the Radiologist.
  • Ensures the availability of medical records, previous reports, labs, and history of patient.
  • Can begin emergency response in case of complication.
  • Maintains adequate linen supplies in each scanning room.
  • Maintains adequate contrast media and biopsy/drainage supplies in each scanning room.
  • Adheres to room assignments (CT 1,2, and 3).
  • Assists in maintaining the CT storeroom, outside inventory.
  • Participates in daily inventory and stocking of supplies.
  • Notifies Lead of expired or soon-to-expire equipment or medications.
  • Cleans and inventories supplies.
  • Participates in the routine cleaning of the CT gantry, table, and peripheral equipment after each use.
  • When assigned as Point, triages procedures accordingly to the daily schedule.
  • Ensures timely coordination of all emergency and unscheduled procedure requests.
  • Assigns staff to ensure efficient workflow while maintaining an environment of patient safety.
  • Maintains workflow within the section to coordinate emergent and unscheduled procedure requests within the schedule.
  • Communicates with all departments and floors about patient status.
  • Ensures immediate patient transport post-procedure.
  • Assists in performing routine procedures.
  • Assesses patient's ability to tolerate contrast.
  • Screens for allergies/medication incompatibilities.
  • Cleans the CT Unit and room after each use.
  • Maintains orderliness and cleanliness of the working area.
  • Notifies Coordinator or Lead of equipment malfunctions.
  • Maintains QA/QC requirements for daily, monthly & ACR specifications.
  • Recognizes unusual conditions in the operation of equipment.
  • Alerts appropriate personnel of equipment malfunctions.
  • Adheres to venipuncture and power injector protocols.
  • Acquires, processes, sends, and verifies/completes images in the PACS / RIS system per established protocol for urgent cases.
  • Notifies the radiologist as Code Grey images are being sent and follows up with any processed data.
  • Notifies the radiologist of any unusual finding to provide optimum care for the patient.
