About The Position

The CT Technologist performs a variety of technical procedures using ionizing radiation that requires independent judgment, ingenuity, initiative, and requires 6 months to one year of training to produce diagnostic computed tomography (CT) images. The CT Technologist works under the direction of a Radiologist to perform CT procedures at a technical level not requiring constant supervision for technical detail. The Technologist assumes responsibility for designated areas of procedures and taking corrective action for minor equipment and/or computer malfunctions. Room set up, patient positioning, patient screening, image acquisition and quality control are the direct responsibilities of the Technologist. Must acquire and maintain specialized technical skills and medical knowledge to render quality patient care. Each technologist is responsible for the safety of their patients, visitors, and medical staff in the CT area while in his or her care.

Requirements

  • Graduate of a Certificate, Military, or Higher Learning Radiography program.
  • Valid Radiographer licensure in an applicable state.
  • ARRT Certification in Radiology with eligibility for CT Certification.
  • Must obtain CT certification within 30 months.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification awarded by the American Heart Association (AHA) within three months of hire.

Nice To Haves

  • 6-12 months of CT training.
  • Two years’ experience as a Radiologic Technologist or CT Technologist.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification awarded by the American Heart Association (AHA) at time of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Perform a variety of technical procedures using ionizing radiation.
  • Work under the direction of a Radiologist to perform CT procedures.
  • Assume responsibility for designated areas of procedures.
  • Take corrective action for minor equipment and/or computer malfunctions.
  • Set up rooms, position patients, screen patients, and acquire images.
  • Ensure quality control of images produced.
  • Maintain specialized technical skills and medical knowledge.
  • Ensure the safety of patients, visitors, and medical staff.
