Hours: As Needed | No Supervisory Responsibilities | No Travel | Pay commensurate with experience JOB SUMMARY: To operate computerized tomography equipment to produce images of the body for diagnostic purposes as directed by Radiologists. The essential responsibilities are to be able to operate the department’s CT scanner as prescribed by operation manual.

Requirements

  • At least one year experience of CT experience is preferred, but a less experienced applicant would be considered.
  • Proficient in CT and X-Ray
  • Registration with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists in the CT.
  • If registry eligible, must be a graduate of an accredited school of Radiologic Technology and must be registered within one year of hire date in CT. Registry must be current and updated before the expiration date.
  • CPR certification and maintain certification.
  • Must be willing to receive all required vaccinations (i.e., flu shot, etc.). All new employees working must be fully vaccinated as a condition of employment (unless the new hire has requested and received an exemption). Candidates for employment will be notified of this policy requirement prior to the start of employment. After receiving an offer of employment, new employees must provide proof of vaccination or request and receive an exemption before beginning work.

Responsibilities

  • Operate computerized tomography equipment to produce images of the body for diagnostic purposes as directed by Radiologists.
  • Operate the department’s CT scanner as prescribed by operation manual.
  • Identifies patient by AMH policy, introduces himself/herself to patient.
  • Properly position patient into scanner and utilizes Radiologist approved required protocol for the exam.
  • Administers correct dosages of oral and IV contrast as required for each exam as required for optimal exam quality.
  • Properly acquires images that comply with departmental standards of high quality.
  • Follows radiation protection guidelines for patients and other employees.
  • Must be reliable for "on‑call" status.
  • Serves all patients that are referred to the department for CT examination in a timely manner.
  • Understands how to use Meditech system and completes all requirements to assure exams are correctly ordered and moved to the “Taken” Status.
  • Submits all required sequences per exam protocol and sends completed study to the radiologist.
  • Understands how to use Meditech system and completes all requirements to assure exams are correctly ordered and moved to the “Taken” Status.
  • Scans and documents all medications and allergies in Meditech as required by policy.
  • Knowledge of PACS system and how to operate make appropriate changes prior to sending to the Radiologist.
  • Make CDs, print CryptoChart forms and PowerShare images.
  • Knowledge of special procedures in area.
  • Performs Quality Control/Quality Assurance.
  • Actively looks for other duties to perform when patient volumes are down.
  • Performs as Radiology Tech when necessary.
  • Goals from previous performance evaluation were met.
  • Recognizes malfunctions of diagnostic equipment.
  • Provides methods to maintain comfort of patient for diagnostic exams.
  • Follows all infection control policies to minimize risk for patient and technologist.
  • Maintains safe environment for the patient including appropriate use of wheelchair, stretcher, and immobilization devices.
  • Contributes productively to overall operation of department by responding efficiently and professionally to schedule changes, emergency situations and adverse weather conditions.
  • Organizes time and efforts to complete required task and is self-motivated.
  • Participates in the onsite clinical instruction of radiology students.
  • Maintains good interpersonal communication with physicians, imaging staff and support members.
  • Recognizes technical limitations and communicates that information promptly to the supervisor or radiologist.
