About The Position

The position is for a Radiologic Technologist specializing in Computed Tomography (CT) at Advocate Health in Burlington, CT. The role involves operating CT equipment to perform diagnostic procedures, obtaining medical histories, positioning patients, and ensuring the accuracy of exams. The technologist will also prepare and administer contrast media, post-process images, maintain records, and perform quality assurance tests on equipment. The job requires knowledge of patient care across different age groups and the ability to assess and interpret patient data. The position is full-time, with a schedule of Friday to Sunday from 7:30 AM to 6:00 PM, and includes rotating holidays. The role offers a sign-on bonus and eligibility for full-time benefits.

Requirements

  • Radiographer license issued by the state of Wisconsin.
  • Registered Technologist (RT) registration issued by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
  • Computed Tomography (CT) registration issued by the ARRT needs to be obtained within 18 months.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) needs to be obtained within 6 months.
  • Advanced training beyond High School in Radiologic Technology.
  • Knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy and basic radiation safety.
  • Competent in IV and venipuncture (if required by facility).
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and patient service skills.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Intermediate computer skills.

Responsibilities

  • Competently operates CT equipment to perform basic and intermediate diagnostic procedures.
  • Obtains medical history from patients and compares requisitions to physicians' orders to ensure exam accuracy.
  • Positions patient and selects proper scanning factors, adjusts factors to attain appropriate images, and provides radiation protection and safety.
  • Prepares and administers contrast media under the direction of the Radiologist.
  • Assists in proper scanning techniques and provides measurements for accurate interpretation.
  • Post-processes images as directed and accurately identifies and labels images.
  • Prepares and maintains records in accordance with regulatory agencies and enters patient information into the radiology information system.
  • Identifies equipment performance issues and performs quality assurance tests.
  • Reports malfunctioning equipment and evaluates new products.
  • Performs various patient positioning and transporting duties.
