About The Position

The CT Technologist II performs radiographic procedures using ionizing radiation for radiologic diagnosis, cares for patients, and assists the physician in the administration of radiopaque media in the performance of routine or special procedures. Produces high quality images for interpretation by physicians that meet the standards established by the Centra Health Radiology. Requires competence, as determined by competency assessments, in a variety of imaging equipment and technology. Practices proper safety guidelines for themselves, support personnel and patients. Fosters teamwork through effective communication. Ensures high level of service to patients through proper communication, technique, and safety guidelines. Maintains flexibility to staff various work locations, shift times and lengths. Perform other functional duties as assigned to assure efficient and optimal patient care.

Requirements

  • Completion of a 2-year degree program in Radiologic Technology.
  • Certified as a CT Technologist by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)(CT).
  • Must be in the Tech I level for 1 year to be promoted to the Tech II level.
  • Requires competency validation.
  • BLS required within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Perform radiographic procedures using ionizing radiation for radiologic diagnosis.
  • Care for patients and assist the physician in the administration of radiopaque media.
  • Produce high quality images for interpretation by physicians.
  • Ensure compliance with safety guidelines for patients and staff.
  • Communicate effectively to foster teamwork.
  • Maintain flexibility to work in various locations and shifts.
  • Review and evaluate developed x-rays or computer-generated information.
  • Position imaging equipment and adjust controls for examinations.
  • Explain procedures to patients using the AIDET process.
  • Maintain patient records in the Radiology Information System (RIS).
  • Assess quality of radiographs and ensure imaging outcomes meet standards.
  • Act as a resource and collaborate with staff, patients, and physicians.
  • Practice aseptic techniques and good infection control procedures.
  • Secure and return supplies, maintaining cleanliness of work areas.
  • Administer non-radioactive contrast.
  • Participate in Performance Improvement initiatives.
