The position involves performing a variety of procedures applying ionizing radiation, specifically conducting CT scans as directed. Requirements

  • Certification Program.
  • Graduate of accredited Radiologic Technology program.
  • ARRT Registered and registered in CT.
  • CPR certification.
  • SCRQSA certification (Required for team members working in South Carolina).

Nice To Haves

  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • 3D Imaging experience preferred.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Knowledge of office equipment (fax/copier).
  • Data entry skills.

Responsibilities

  • Identify patients and procedures.
  • Communicate with nursing or physician concerning patient needs.
  • Inform nursing of patients that need IV sedation or biopsies.
  • Fill out questionnaires on all patients between the ages of 12-55 years old.
  • Position patients accurately for all CT procedures.
  • Transfer and position patients correctly for anatomy to be demonstrated for best visibility.
  • Know scanning protocols in depth and perform procedures correctly using protocol book for reference.
  • Complete studies in a timely manner and take them to the radiologist for interpretation.
  • Write the time procedure is finished and filmed on the patient board.
  • Archive films and take them to the radiologist for reading.
  • Obtain appropriate supplies and prepare the room for patients.
  • Keep the room cleaned and stocked at all times.
  • Ensure adequate supplies and linens are always available.
  • Clean tables and trays after each patient.
  • Use proper technique when injecting IV contrast and ensure IV is working.
  • Be proficient in filming from the imaging workstation, including 3D imaging and multiplanar reconstruction.
  • Respond to codes and other emergency situations appropriately.
  • Explain CT procedures to patients and/or family members.
  • Obtain completed questionnaires and proper history and clinical information from patients.
  • Inform patients and families of all delays.
  • Train co-workers and students.
  • Assist other technologists when not busy in assigned CT room.
  • Acquire requisition and check for appropriate clinical information.
  • Charge procedure, supplies, and surgical codes when exams are completed.
  • Indicate no-film badge wearing name and fluoro time.
  • Add surgical charges when needed.
  • Operate the PAC’s system appropriately and verify studies before sending to archive.
  • Report equipment problems to supervisor and document confirmation numbers.
  • Complete appropriate forms for all procedures.
  • Fill out contrast sheets on all patients receiving IV and rectal contrast.
  • Communicate with radiologist to determine appropriate protocols for each exam.
  • Utilize correct protocols as prescribed by the radiologist.
  • Demonstrate recognition of anatomy and pathology related to scans being processed.
  • Perform warm-up calibrations as needed.
  • Maintain competency needed for working in the CT department.
  • Perform point of care testing.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
