About The Position

Assist Technologists to ensure efficient workflow and optimal patient care. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Interviews patients and explains the CT procedures, obtains a pertinent exam history (including symptoms / reasons for exam, medical conditions, allergies, medications (especially diabetic meds that contain metformin), related exams and surgeries. Verifies two forms of patient identification. Utilizes tablets proficiently and timely for patient histories.  Positions patients on the scanner table and places sponges under knees and arms to ensure patient comfort. Ability to assist/lift/transfer patients.  Obtains IV access with appropriate size angiocath for injections as needed (exam specific). Competency in using Piccolo and Istat chemical analyzer to obtain BUN/creatinine levels. Obtains lab work (BUN and Creatnine) on all patients age 60 and older, patients with known renal insufficiency or only one kidney for IV contrast studies (Labs must be no older than 60 day old). Obtains previous reports and CD’s from other facilities, hospitals, and Doctor’s offices that pertain to the exam being done. Gets both films and CD’s ready for referring physicians. Has the ability to make both viewer and DICOM CD from either PACS, Media Writer or Vertex. Works on the computer with RIS, PACS, and other systems to complete patients and mark patients “verified” in PACS. Verifies correct information and images in PACS and edits as needed. Help inventory all supplies for ordering purposes and utilize order board to maintain stock.  Stock CT scan room and prep room with appropriate supplies (avoiding overstock of any one item). Maintains annual certification in CPR, and Blood Borne Pathogens.   Follows CT protocols to ensure consistent patient care. Maintain cleanliness of room, table and gantry. Complete laundry as needed. Perform X-Rays as needed if ARRT certified. Attendance at meetings and training sessions may be required. These sessions could occasionally be scheduled outside of your regular working hours to accommodate business needs and training opportunities. Requirements

  • An individual must possess six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Medical Assistant certification preferred, or equivalent work experience and training.
  • Phlebotomy/venipuncture experience including the ability to start IV’s and perform angio-cath injections.
  • Possess basic medical terminology knowledge in order to obtain thorough medical histories.
  • Certification in CPR and Blood Borne Pathogens.
  • Must hold a current ARRT certificate if performing X-ray.
  • Must continue to obtain the recommended amount of Continuing Educations Credits each year for your certifications.
  • Continuing education in accordance of the ARRT, ACR, and State of Michigan.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance Instructions and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Must Be able to communicate effectively with the patients and understand their response.
  • Ability to define problems collects data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to Interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal With several abstract and concrete variables.
