About The Position

This position performs/supervises services in a designated area according to the policies, procedures, philosophy, and objectives of the department and hospital. Works cooperatively within department and other services to create a system of quality health care. Hours: Mon-Fri 7a-330p.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and Computed Tomography areas.
  • Clerical skills.
  • General knowledge of RIS and PACs system.

Responsibilities

  • Applies knowledge and principles of Universal Precautions to minimize exposure to/spread of infectious organism.
  • Correlates the outpatient physicians’ orders with the CT exam performed to help Ensure insurance coverage and reduce denials.
  • Follows through and obtains updated pre-cert numbers when necessary; logs this information in Paragon system.
  • Works collaboratively with Central Scheduling department to obtain proper insurance information and pre cert information.
  • Contacts physician’s offices to obtain written orders for exams when necessary.
  • Provides front line customer service by coordinating front desk staff and functions, including visitor reception and patient registration, service recovery, answering calls at the main telephone console, patient appointment scheduling.
  • Serves as customer service ambassador by being the first contact with patients or visitors, either in person or by telephone
  • Assists with the department workflow by entering orders, scanning paperwork, escorting patients to and from the exam room(s) as needed, filling supplies, IV contrast, etc.
  • Looks up lab values for outpatients for the next day and logs this information on outpatient schedule for Radiologist and Technologists use
  • Uses Central Transport scheduling system to arrange transportation to and from department. Transports patients interdepartmentally if needed.
  • Identifies patient verbally by name and DOB and checks ID bracelet.
  • Applies knowledge and safety principles to ensure patient and staff safety.
  • Make basic observations and report them to staff.
  • Handles body fluids using universal precautions, includes assisting with bedpans, emesis basins, etc. as needed.
  • Assists in lifting, positioning, and ambulating patients.
