About The Position

The CT Supervisor reports to the Director of Diagnostic Imaging and Cardiovascular Services or designee. This role is responsible for the coordination of CT procedures and Care Partners, ensuring the provision of efficient and accurate images based on patient diagnosis, and overseeing the overall operations of the CT Department. The supervisor is accountable for department operations, fiscal/financial management, quality assurance, service delivery, environment of care/safety, risk management, and human resource management. Key aspects include providing all aspects of Diagnostic Radiology care according to established standards, demonstrating competency in all procedures, managing daily operations, prioritizing patient procedures, maintaining the CT area, managing supplies, scheduling Care Partners, and handling personnel functions such as selection, evaluation, discipline, and education. The supervisor also administers contrast agents, prepares and organizes CT examinations, ensures accurate charging, collects patient history, trains technologists, collaborates on protocols, reviews software updates, and ensures radiation protection.

Requirements

Associate’s Degree or other Two-Year College equivalent required.
State of Florida Radiologic Technologist License required.
American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) Computed Tomography RT (R)(CT) required or Nuclear Medicine Technologist Certification Board NMTCB(CT) required.
BCLS through the American Heart Association required.

Responsibilities

Provides all aspects of Diagnostic Radiology care based on established standards.
Demonstrates competency in all procedures within the scope of practice, as appropriate to the ages of the patients served evidenced by: The ability to obtain information and interpret information in terms of the patient’s needs; a knowledge of growth and development; and understanding of how to compensate technical factors to provide an optimal clinical image for interpretation.
Responsible for daily operations and management functions for area of responsibility.
Daily prioritizes all Inpatients, Outpatients, and Emergency CT procedures, as well as the Radiologists Invasive schedule as appropriate.
Maintains cleanliness and general order of the CT area.
Responsible for the ordering / delegating of CT supplies ensuring appropriate levels are maintained.
Responsible for ensuring supplies ordered and the evaluation of all new products within CT.
Responsible for planning work schedules (i.e. On-Call, Daily and Weekend) for CT Care Partners.
Responsible for the selection, evaluation, discipline, termination, license verification and in-service education of responsible Care Partners.
Ensures competency skills, testing is complete and evaluates CT Care Partners during probationary and annual periods.
Provides Diagnostic Imaging policy and Administers contrast agents when appropriate using established departmental criteria and CT guidelines for the correct agent, computer entry for charge capture and recognition of adverse patient reaction.
Completes all necessary documentation related to contrast media use.
Prepares, organizes and is responsible for the quality of all CT examinations presented for interpretation by Radiologists.
Completes accurate and timely PACS inputs.
Responsible for completed and accurate charging of CT procedures and related expenses.
Monitors staff for compliance and takes corrective action when necessary.
Interviews with patient, family members, nursing staff and physicians to collect pertinent information (patient history) to ensure an appropriate and efficient study.
Maintains cleanliness and general order of CT area.
Responsible for the ordering of CT contrast and other supplies ensuring appropriate levels are maintained.
Responsible for training other radiologic technologists in CT operations and oversees students rotating through the CT Department.
Collaborates with the radiologist to establish CT protocols to optimize quality examinations.
Reviews software updates by manufacturer.
Ensures patient and personal radiation protection by ascertaining pregnancy status when indicated and practicing ALARA principles (time, distance, shielding) of dose reduction.
Attends supervisory and staff meetings as appropriate and promotes the general professional attitude and objectives of the hospital to all patients, visitors, nursing, and medical staff.
