The CT Student Technologist II assists Radiology/Vascular/Echo Technologist staff by providing non-technical and/or supervised technical support across various Radiology departments. This role expedites patient care through direct patient contact, including transportation, preparation, specimen transportation, and preparation of imaging rooms. The technologist cares for patients of all ages under the supervision of a registered technologist. The position involves operating imaging equipment specific to the modality of hire and producing quality imaging studies under guidance and direct supervision until competency is achieved, especially for surgical/mobile examinations and repeat images to ensure patient safety. After achieving exam competency, the role operates under indirect supervision. Responsibilities also include post-processing imaging studies, preparing patients for exams including MRI Safety Screening where applicable, maintaining imaging equipment, and applying ALARA principles to minimize radiation exposure. Patient safety is paramount in all aspects of care. The role requires effective use of the Radiology Information System, efficient completion and review of paperwork, corroborating patient clinical history with procedures, and ensuring information is documented for licensed practitioners. Maintaining confidentiality and an ethical relationship with patients and medical records is essential. The position also supports patient transportation. Work is typically performed in a clinical environment.
