The CT Scan Assistant provides assistance to the CT Scan Technologist under their supervision to ensure patient care flow through the CT scan department in accordance with the protocols, policies, and standards of the CT Scan department. This role involves direct patient care, maintaining a safe working environment, and ensuring the efficient operation of the CT scan area.

  • Provides direct care to patients and families in a developmentally, culturally, and ethically appropriate manner under the direction of the CT scan Technologist.
  • Double identifies all patients prior to assisting them in CT scan.
  • Maintains a safe and clean working environment by complying with departmental and organizational policies, processes, and procedures.
  • Ensures appropriate storage and routing of supplies in the CT area; monitors supplies and reports shortages as required.
  • Transports patients in accordance with established safety policies.
  • Participates in patient care data collection and unit-specific procedures as directed by the CT scan Technologist.
  • Confers with the supervisor to report problems relative to equipment, staffing, and productivity and makes recommendations.
  • Obtains pertinent pre-screening clinical data prior to diagnostic examination and assists with the preparation of patients.
  • Assists the CT scan technologist with efficient patient flow through the scanner area through effective scheduling and assignment of responsibility.
  • Actively participates in departmental activities and departmental staff meetings.
  • High School graduate or equivalent.
  • Six months experience working in either a diagnostic imaging or acute care setting is preferred.
  • American Heart Association Health Care Provider BLS CPR certification.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • General computer software usage.
  • General medical terminology preferred.
