The CT Technologist performs a variety of technical procedures using ionizing radiation that requires independent judgment, ingenuity, initiative, and requires 6 months to one year of training to produce diagnostic computed tomography (CT) images. The CT Technologist works under the direction of a Radiologist to perform CT procedures at a technical level not requiring constant supervision for technical detail. The Technologist assumes responsibility for designated areas of procedures and taking corrective action for minor equipment and/or computer malfunctions. Room set up, patient positioning, patient screening, image acquisition and quality control are the direct responsibilities of the Technologist. Must acquire and maintain specialized technical skills and medical knowledge to render quality patient care. Each technologist is responsible for the safety of their patients, visitors, and medical staff in the CT area while in his or her care.
