About The Position

The CT/Rad Tech position at Good Shepherd Health Care System involves providing health care services by applying x-ray energy to assist in diagnosis or treatment. The role includes performing radiographic procedures and related techniques to produce images for interpretation by licensed practitioners. The technician will also perform computed tomography to demonstrate sectional anatomic images, exercising professional judgment and maintaining a demeanor complementary to medical ethics. The position requires appropriate patient care and recognition of patient conditions essential for successful completion of procedures.

Requirements

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree from Radiologic Technology accredited program.
  • OBMI and ARRT registered CT technologist.
  • Current BLS certification.
  • 3 Months CT experience.

Nice To Haves

  • 1 year CT experience.

Responsibilities

  • Performs diagnostic radiography procedures.
  • Corroborates patient's clinical history with procedure, assuring information is documented and available for use by a licensed practitioner.
  • Prepares patient for procedures; provides instructions to obtain desired results, gain cooperation, and minimize anxiety.
  • Selects and operates radiography equipment and associated devices to achieve desired results.
  • Positions patient and equipment to best demonstrate anatomic area of interest, respecting patient ability and comfort.
  • Immobilizes patients as required for appropriate examination.
  • Determines radiographic technique exposure factors, minimizing exposure to patient and others.
  • Evaluates images for technical quality, assuring proper identification is recorded.
  • Verifies informed consent for, and assists a licensed practitioner with, interventional procedures.
  • Practices aseptic techniques as necessary.
  • Assumes responsibility for provision of physical and emotional needs of patients during procedures.
  • Prepares, identifies, and/or administers contrast media and/or medications as prescribed by a licensed practitioner.
  • Initiates basic life support action when necessary.
  • Assists licensed practitioners with Fluoroscopic and specialized interventional radiography procedures.
  • Operates Computed Tomographic equipment and accessories.
  • Selects appropriate program for the desired protocol.
  • Understands methods of and can perform venipuncture.
  • Evaluates images for technical quality, manipulates display parameters, assuring proper identification.
  • Maintains archival storage of digitized data as appropriate.
  • Maintains knowledge of and observes Universal precautions.
  • Provides patient education.
  • Completes Computed tomography skills check by CT advanced user.
  • Participates in required education for DNV programs as applicable to position.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
