About The Position

The CT/MRI Coordinator is responsible for patient care and all related duties required to provide high quality imaging studies. The patient population served is aged neonatal to geriatrics. In accordance with hospital and departmental policies, this position is responsible for insuring that all imaging patients receive safe, optimal care. He/She assures that all work performed in the imaging area is in compliance with state and federal regulations.

Requirements

  • Minimum Education: Graduate of an Accredited Program and registered by the ARRT
  • Minimum Work Experience: Radiological experience as a staff CT and MRI technologist
  • Required Licenses/Certifications: Must possess Texas State Licensure and meet all FDA and State of Texas requirements. Must have current basic CPR certification. Must have and keep continuing education credits up-to-date as required by ARRT and the State of Texas for registry and licensure. Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities Must have good working knowledge of anatomy, physiology, medical terminology and understand the principles of physics. Must possess the knowledge to obtain diagnostic quality images and setup and operate equipment safely. Must possess good communication skills, technical acuity and be able to work without direct supervision.

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced registries in CT and MRI are preferred with 2 years experience in each. Previous supervisory experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Reinforces HMHD's values, promotes HMHD's Compliance Plan and demonstrates proficiency in understanding of training materials and applicable laws and standards.
  • Completes the required corporate integrity and compliance training and education programs and ensures department employees complete their required education (in a timely manner) according to HMHD policies.
  • Assists the Compliance Officer and the Executive Compliance Committee in identifying "high risk" issues within his/her department.
  • Complies with all HIPAA standards.
  • Uses critical thinking skills to determine evidence based solutions. Takes responsibility for solving problems.
  • Systemically gathers and reviews pertinent information to prevent errors (PDCA - Plan, Do,Check, Act).

  • Assists in the orientation and skill development of new staff members and radiography students.
  • Consistently checks order requisition for completeness of information regarding the patient and the exam ordered. Verifies, edits and follow change-order process appropriately with any discrepancies associated with the ordered exam. Performs Meditech and PACS functions to complete all tasks.
  • Accurately monitors the quality of the images. Ensures all equipment is properly maintained and all required start-up and QC tests (if applicable) are performed accurately.
  • Consistently obtains diagnostic quality images as ordered by a physician. Assists Radiologist during designated procedures.
  • Performs work functions timely and accurately.

  • Maintains work area so that it is orderly, clean and stocked with the appropriate supplies and items needed to prepare the patient and room specific to imaging procedures performed.
  • Oversees and participates in the performance of imaging exams and assures that all images reflect a high standard of technological service. Provides information, as needed, regarding new technology to the Medical staff and Board members.
  • Acts as a liaison for the Imaging Staff and Hospital Staff to achieve expedient work flow and efficiency in regards to patient care. Maintains total quality management and continuous quality improvement, being goal oriented in enhancing the imaging facilities reputation for quality scans.
  • Regularly attends and participates in the Coordinator meetings. If unable to attend, he/she will review agenda and meeting minutes.
  • Contributes to the achievement of excellence in healthcare through the quality and caring values of the mission and vision of Hunt Regional Hospital District.
  • Conscientiously maintains and documents continuing education credits for all certifications and licensure required if applicable to your job and its requirements.

  • Demonstrates knowledge of departmental and institutional regulations regarding, but not limited to, patient care, fire and safety, infection control, disaster plans and emergency codes according to written policies within the Hospital District.
  • Follows and improves, as necessary, all policies and procedures approved by HMHD and those specific for the Imaging departments at each facility within the Hospital District.
  • Knows and applies all magnetic safety precautions. Coordinates and/or facilitates magnetic safety education as directed by the facilities MRI Safety Policy. Completes competencies and annual training as required and assigned.
  • Responsible and assures that all CT/MRI department policies and procedures are created and updated to comply with all state and federal regulations.
  • Consistently investigates all CT/MRI interdepartmental conflicts and acts upon them according to the standards delineated in the HMHD and departmental policy and procedure manuals.
  • Initiates disciplinary action when necessary. Assures that HMHD and departmental policies and procedures are followed by all personnel.
  • Performs evaluations of CT/MRI technologists on a timely basis.
  • Develops, maintains and updates the CT/MRI protocols and assures that all CT/MRI staff receive a working knowledge of the equipment and protocols of the department.
  • Performs other tasks and assists in other areas as assigned and needed by the Director of Diagnostic Imaging, Diagnostic Imaging Manager, and Radiologist or Administrator within our Hospital District. Performs any other tasks to fill the need of the department, hospital and its patients.
  • Correctly and consistently adheres to the DI department's contrast policy with all patients. Correctly prepares oral and IV contrast media.
  • Consistently transports patients to and from the department when needed. Assists in any area of the DI department according to the absences of co-workers, extra workloads and emergency need of others.
  • Uses proper lifting techniques and practices safety to ensure the protection of the patient, self, co-workers, hospital property and equipment at all times.
  • Responsible for the preparation and organization of the CT/MRI schedules providing the necessary standard of care.
