About The Position

The Role The CT Lead is responsible for setting the strategic direction, negotiation approach, and execution plan for a defined software and technology commodity space. This role leads cross-functional alignment (Engineering, Finance, Legal, and Program teams), shapes long-term supplier strategies, and ensures commercial outcomes meet GM’s cost, quality, timing, and flexibility objectives. The CT Lead will own the sourcing roadmap, drive complex contract and license discussions, manage key supplier relationships at a senior level, and coach the broader purchasing team to deliver on both near-term program milestones and long-range business goals. What You’ll Do Understand the Automotive, Software, IT industry and the long-term direction GM software is headed. Ability to work effectively cross functionally, both internally and externally and build relationships Determine viable suppliers for technology requirements Develop and manage supplier under the guidance of quality, service, technology, and price negotiations. This includes sound understanding of deadlines, required lead times, supplier contracts and application types. Active participation with key stakeholders, including engineering, IT, business stakeholder, legal, and security. Manage annual renewal cadence and deadlines. Adheres to corporate purchasing and accounting policies and procedures. Negotiate price, terms, and other items to complete full contract package. Utilize Global Purchasing and Supply Chain sourcing process to manage Sourcing packages. Develop benchmarking for each sourcing package. Experience handling commercial issues with suppliers and assessing supplier performance Proven competence in negotiating skills Professional interpersonal verbal and written communication skills

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management or related technical area
  • 5+ years relevant experience in purchasing, supply chain, program/product management, engineering, logistics or product development (any internship or co-op experience will not be considered)
  • Data Judgement - Ability to objectively analyze data and draw meaningful conclusions
  • Informative Communication - Ability to communicate relevant information to the appropriate audience both effectively and timely

  • SAP experience or ability to learn purchasing systems
  • Ability to travel 5 - 10% of the time domestically.
  • Proven competence in negotiating skills
  • Professional interpersonal verbal and written communication skills
