About The Position

The new University of Iowa Health Care North Liberty department of Radiology is seeking an Imaging Technologist to CT, general radiography in multiple areas within the hospital including Adult and Pediatric, Dexa, emergency room, OR, fluoroscopy and orthopedic clinic. Perform and teach specialized CT and diagnostic radiography procedures utilizing complex imaging equipment with close patient monitoring during exam.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's degree in Radiologic Technology or other Allied Health Sciences discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required for Senior Imaging Technologist.
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills for Senior Imaging Technologist.
  • Successful completion of two-year or other approved program by Joint Review Committee in Radiologic Technology Education is required for Imaging Technologist.
  • Current certification or eligibility for certification in diagnostic procedures by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) is required.
  • Current Permit to Practice issued by the Iowa Department of Public Health for all radiographers operating ionizing radiation emitting equipment is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous work or clinical education experience in general radiology in a level 1 Trauma center is desired.
  • Recent work or clinical education experience in general radiography is desired.
  • Recent work or clinical education experience in CT and general radiography is desired.
  • CT modality training.
  • CT certification or eligible.

Responsibilities

  • Perform and teach specialized imaging procedures utilizing CT and diagnostic imaging equipment with close patient monitoring during exam.
  • Operate, adjust, and manipulate computerized electronic and mechanical components of computerized axial tomographic, angiographic, magnetic resonance systems and multiple modalities of other general diagnostic equipment.
  • Maintain, operate and trouble-shoot and report equipment failures.
  • Instruct trainees, students and staff on equipment operation and safety precautions.
  • Explain examination process to patients.
  • Ensure patients welfare and assist physician with medical procedures.
  • Perform patient care techniques including skin preparation, I.V. placement, vital sign monitoring and recording, and basic life support; prepare and administer contrast material to patients.
  • Maintain records and results of examinations and archive computer data.
  • Plan daily, regular and STAT scheduling for efficient room utilization.
  • Participate in on-call coverage.
  • Assist with inventory, ordering supplies, and maintaining quality assurance in accordance with hospital, departmental and clinical unit standards.
  • Participate in phantom, human and/or animal research.
  • Maintain knowledge of technical developments, software updates, and related subjects by attending meetings, continuing education programs, and participation in professional organizations and/or review journals or publications.
  • Perform quality assurance procedures and evaluate systems performance.
  • Instruct and/or evaluate the clinical abilities and performance of Radiology Technology or sub-specialty students on a clinical rotation.
  • Maintain effective working relationships with faculty, staff, students and the public.
