The surgical technologist works under the supervision of the registered nurse and medical staff to facilitate the safe and effective conduct of invasive and minimally invasive surgical procedures. This individual works to ensure that the operating room environment is safe, that equipment functions properly and that the operative procedure is conducted under conditions that maximize patient safety. A surgical technologist possesses expertise in the theory and application of sterile and aseptic technique and combines the knowledge of human anatomy, surgical procedures, and implementation tools and technologies to facilitate a physician's performance of invasive therapeutic and diagnostic procedures. FlexPlan is a staffing schedule in which employees are required to “flex” their standard hours up to full time hours to accommodate variable staffing needs due to census, volume or acuity levels to meet the department needs. LexPlan is a staffing schedule designated for patient care staff that work weekends only. Work 24 hours and get paid for 36, eligible for Full-time benefits, plus applicable clinical differentials.
