About The Position

The Certified Surgical Technologist at Bon Secours Mercy Health plays a crucial role in facilitating surgical procedures by ensuring that the surgical team has the necessary sterile instruments, supplies, and equipment. This position emphasizes the importance of maintaining aseptic techniques and preparing the operating room for various surgical interventions.

Requirements

• Associates Degree, Vocational Certification, or Military Certificate in Surgical Technology (required).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (preferred).
• Certification as a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or equivalent (required).
• Registered Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) with the Virginia Board of Medicine (required if currently reside in Virginia).
• One year of perioperative, operating room, or related military surgical technology experience (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Provides instruments and supplies to the surgical team during the procedure and maintains aseptic technique.
• Prepares, maintains, and organizes sterile supplies and instruments for the procedure.
• Provides complete case preparation with the ability to adapt to special instruments, supplies, and equipment.
• Assists with pre and post procedure cleaning of the operative room and instruments.
• Prepares and performs surgical skin prep and clipping as indicated by procedure.
