About The Position

The role of the Driver is to transport our clientele from our treatment programs to residential placement, public transportation hubs, court appearances and related health care appointments.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Current and valid Massachusetts driver's license and a proven record of safe driving
  • Must demonstrate compassion for the population served in Casa Esperanza and have the willingness to work in a multicultural setting and share a customer service orientation

Responsibilities

  • Perform daily inspection on assigned vehicle, at the beginning of each shift
  • Ensure that vehicle is properly cleaned and maintained, and any need for repairs is outlined and reported
  • Obtain orders for transporting clients or things to different locations and ensure that they are carried our properly.
  • Complete inventory report on transport of goods and supplies
  • Responsible for company gas credit card. Submit receipts weekly.
  • Assist clients in embarking and disembarking to and from the vehicle when needed, ensuring their safety and wellbeing.
  • Receive items, documents and medications and ensure they are safely transported to their destinations.
  • Use GPS to map safe routes to destinations, ensuring that timelines are met.
  • Drive assigned program vehicle to destinations, in a safe manner and follow all program rules, state and local traffic laws.
  • Transport clients, to their destinations, or handle office pick up duties, medication pick up from community pharmacies and deliver parcels and documents.
  • Maintain contact with program or team member to ensure that he or she is made aware of delivery or transport situations using assigned program cell phone (hands free while driving)
  • Perform both preventative and regular maintenance on assigned vehicle, and ensure that proper detailing is performed.
  • Weekly trips to Merrimack Valley Food Bank in Lowell to pick up snacks for clients
  • Have working knowledge on using cell phone to make and receive phone calls, text and check emails.
  • May require limited overtime, on limited occasions
  • Properly search and administer drug test to clients upon returning to the program when needed.
  • All other related duties as assigned
