As CRS Technician, you will manage general hospital and surgical instruments, trays and related materials. Your efforts to decontaminate, inspect, sort, assemble and store this equipment helps ensure patients receive sterile, safe and efficient care. A caregiver in this role works evenings + on-call shifts from 2:00 p.m. - 10:30 p.m.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Complete 90 days of on-the-job training to learn basic skills and departmental policies
  • Ability to read, write and perform basic math functions in order to maintain accurate record
  • Strong customer service and team orientation

Nice To Haves

  • Registered Certified Central Service Tech
  • One year of Central Service Tech or closely related field experience
  • One to two years of hospital, manufacturing or medical experience

Responsibilities

  • Disassemble and clean all general surgical and hospital instrumentation and equipment per established procedure.
  • Use appropriate chemicals for cleaning or disinfecting supplies.
  • Handle contaminated instruments and supplies per established procedure to ensure worker safety.
  • Inspect instrumentation and equipment for defects, functionality and cleanliness per departmental procedure.
  • Sort and assemble instrumentation and supplies per instrument count sheets and established procedures.
  • Select and use appropriate packaging materials and methods of wrapping and initial instrumentation per procedure for tracking purposes.
  • Perform quality assurance monitoring per manufacturer's direction.
  • Maintain complete and accurate daily logs and inform supervisors and/or appropriate department of potential and/or needed repairs.
  • Ensure stored instrumentation and equipment are available and in working order.
  • Store instrumentation and equipment providing optimum sterility and/or infection control conditions per established AAMI, AORN and APIC standards.
  • Handle and rotate stock per departmental policies.
  • Issue supplies as ordered, complete all charge forms as necessary, order supplies as necessary, stock specialty and case carts.
