The CSP Technician I is responsible for decontaminating instruments and equipment. Sterilization of instruments for operative and invasive procedures, according to AORN, AST, CDC, and AMMI guidelines. WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT Stocks carts with supplies after the cart has been brought to sterile processing for exchange. Responds to instrument and equipment requests from surgery and hospital departments. Performs testing and runs biologicals on sterilizer, documenting accurately. Follows hospital policy and state regulations whenever a discrepancy occurs. Operates all types of sterilizers and decontaminating equipment according to the Manufacturer's instructions. Follows standard precautions when dealing with blood, biohazard material, and body fluids and using personal protective equipment. Collects soiled instruments and equipment from surgery and various units within the hospital. Visually inspects instruments, assuring instruments are clean before they are subjected to the sterilization process. Assesses supplies required for prescribed standard surgical procedures and sets up case carts. Maintains inventory, collects, disassembles, inspects, cleans, disinfects, and reassembles instrument trays and patient care equipment.
