About The Position

Sovah Health in Danville, VA., is seeking a full-time Central Sterile Processing Technician to join our team. The CSP will collect, decontaminate stores, and distribute all reusable supplies and patient care equipment in the hospital. Participates in a variety of duties involving the assembling, cleaning, sterilizing, wrapping, storage, and issuance of hospital sterile supplies and equipment. Transports instruments to specific units.

Requirements

• A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
• Requires flexibility in scheduling with the ability to work all shift patterns including weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Provide inspection, decontamination, assembly, and sterilization of instruments and other patient care equipment in accordance with processing guidelines, AAMI, AORN, TJC, and OSHA requirements.
• Operates departmental equipment daily according to manufacturer instructions with an emphasis on safety.
• Documented the sterility of all instruments and supplies according to hospital policy and procedure in conjunction with AAMI Standards.
• Provide customer service to all departments with a focus on the patient's needs.
• Processes and documents all sterile supplies and equipment daily using chemical, biological, and mechanical indicators to verify sterility in accordance with manufacturer instructions and hospital policy.
• Monitors and performs antimicrobial and disinfection solutions testing according to manufacturer instructions and documentation daily.
