About The Position

The Colorado Shakespeare Festival (CSF) at the University of Colorado Boulder is seeking multiple crew members for the 2025 season, which includes positions in Lighting, Sound, Props, Paints, and Carpentry. These roles are essential for the successful execution of the festival's productions, which will run from May to August 2025, with some remote responsibilities starting in January 2025. The festival aims to provide a culturally rich experience through classic theatre and community engagement, and the selected candidates will contribute to this mission by supporting various technical aspects of the productions.

Requirements

  • At least 1 year of related experience in a relevant field.
  • A valid driver's license is required for positions that involve driving a university vehicle.
  • Strong collaboration, communication, and technical skills related to the required abilities of the position.
  • Ability to maintain high quality standards and a safe work environment under tight timelines.

Nice To Haves

  • Teaching or mentoring experience.
  • Rigging experience for carpentry positions.
  • Experience with traditional and contemporary lighting practices.
  • Experience in theatrical audio and/or audio engineering.
  • Experience in scenic painting and theatrical painting techniques.
  • Experience in sculpting, casting, and advanced carpentry.

Responsibilities

  • Perform skilled carpentry work for theatrical scenery construction.
  • Assist with planning, layout, construction, and installation of scenic projects.
  • Support transitioning the shop space to tech rehearsal and performance space.
  • Participate in repertory changeovers and provide routine maintenance.
  • Drive a university vehicle and pass a motor vehicle background check (for applicable positions).
  • Participate in electrics install, maintenance, and repair of lighting equipment.
  • Operate lighting console for performances or function as deck electrician as assigned.
  • Install and maintain sound equipment and operate sound console during performances.
  • Assist in painting scenic elements and building props for productions.
  • Assist with planning, fabrication, and installation of theatrical scenery.
