Job Summary The Assistant General Manager for the CSC supports the general operation of the CSC as assigned by the CSC General Manager. These assignments can include inventory management, KPI management, outside sales, staffing, safety, and any other duties as assigned by the GM. This position will support the CSC strategic plan by supporting the area managers to meet their goals for labor, cost of goods sold, inventory, employee development, etc. This position will also take on the responsibilities for student success and engagement. What you'll do in this role: Operations & Customer Service Align with strategic plan from CSC GM and develop dashboards or other tools needed to track KPIs. Ensure the proper documentation of safety and food safety training for all employees (students and staff) Coordinate with area supervisors the student employee needs and make sure When to Work is up to date and utilized Develop and execute action plans for the yearly engagement survey to improve employee satisfaction Be an advocate for safety and participate in the Dining Services Safety Committee Support the creation of policies and procedures that enhance the operation at the CSC Prepare an agenda and conduct the weekly staff meeting when needed Maintain a professional and friendly relationship with outside customers and follow up on their needs Utilize Eatec to manage recipes, new products, and inventory to reflect an accurate financial state of the CSC CSC Ordering and Receiving management Setup appropriate processes to ensure the on-time procurement of production ingredients and materials Supervise all received items are put away properly and in a timely manner Supervise the execution of frequent physical counts and an end of the year inventory count Supervise all production orders are staged properly and on time Reduce product spoilage by establishing a good par system and ingredient rotation Oversee the proper labeling and collection of CSC equipment from other areas in Dining Services Operations Leadership Model and incorporate BYU Dining mission, vision, and values at all levels within supervised locations. Fulfill the role of Student Success Manager and promote ways to increase student employee retention and engagement Supervise the work by direct reports, ensuring appropriate productivity, food safety, and quality. Provide feedback and correction as necessary to support success. Take ownership for the planning and execution of large-scale events like Athletic events, FSY, Sports camps, Mission Leadership Seminar, Education Week, Women’s Conference, etc. Develop the leadership abilities of direct reports through 1-on-1s and PDPs. Identify and support appropriate learning opportunities and perform succession planning and development as needed. Maintain positive morale and employee relations with kitchen and production crews. Develop effective ways to communicate standards and systems to employees. What qualifies you for this role: Education/Experience Minimum required: Bachelor’s degree and 3 years of supervision in a production area, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience must include inventory management and KPIs A physical exam and lift test will be conducted as a part of the hiring process for this position. Physical Effort: Moderate – Physical effort represented by frequent handling of medium weight objects (approx. 20-50 lbs.) and materials, or use of medium weight hand tools. May require climbing and working from ladders or in awkward positions. Environment: Periodic exposure to unfavorable conditions because of unavoidable need to be in variable temperatures or wet environments, etc. Hazards Moderate existing or potential hazards. Typical Physical Efforts, Environmental Factors, and Hazards: Lifting Freight weighing up to 50 lbs (30 min, daily) Frequent work in walk-in coolers and freezers (1 hour, daily) Hot environment due to ovens and fryers (4 hours, daily) Working on wet floors (30 min, daily) Work with industrial equipment with its inherent hazards (30 min, multiple times per week)
