In this position, you will be responsible for safe efficient practices for decontamination, instrument assembly, wrapping and sterilization of all reprocessed instruments, distribution equipment, and case cart management helping to ensure patients have the best possible healthcare experience. Along the way, you will receive ample support, training and education, including knowledge of the latest, state-of-the-art technologies and concepts. A caregiver in this position works nights from 11:00 p.m. – 7:30 a.m. with 12-hour weekend shifts from 7:00 p.m. – 7:30 a.m. and rotating holiday requirements.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Sterile Processing Distribution Certification (e.g., CRCST, CSPDT, CFER, or CER) must be maintained
  • Two to five years of experience in Central Service/Sterile Processing areas
  • Military experience, such as Hospital Corpsmen (HM), Machinery Repairman (MR), Aircraft Maintenance Technician (2A3X3), Biomedical Equipment Specialist (68A), Small Arms Repairer (91F), considered
  • Ability to use Computerized Instrument Tracking System to perform assigned duties, including obtaining instrument count sheets, special handling instructions for instrumentation, documenting sterilization loads, and other tasks

Responsibilities

  • Provide safe, efficient practices for decontamination, instrument assembly, wrapping and sterilization of all reprocessed instruments and distribution equipment.
  • Perform case pull functions.
  • Determine appropriate case carts to be built for specialty procedures.
  • Build case carts ensuring adherence to procedures.
  • Dispatch case carts to ensure availability for surgical/clinical procedures.
  • Perform record keeping, ordering, stocking and inventory control.
  • Scan, sort and inspect instruments for functionality and cleanliness and assemble instruments according to provided lists, wraps and labels.
  • Monitor and control the distribution of supplies and equipment.
  • Upon completing preceptor guidelines, perform preceptor duties and assist in educating non-certified technicians
