Certified CS/SPD Technicians are responsible for cleaning and maintaining surgical and hospital tools. In this position, you help ensure patients have the best possible healthcare experience by providing caregivers with safe and sterile equipment. Along the way, you will receive ample support, training and education, including knowledge of the latest, state-of-the-art technologies and concepts. A caregiver in this position works days from 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. with rotating weekend and holiday requirements.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Two to five years of experience in central service/sterile processing areas
  • A Sterile Processing certification (e.g., CRCST, CSPDT, CFER, or CER)
  • Successful completion of a recognized training program with certification in central service/sterile processing
  • Ability to use the computerized instrument tracking system to perform assigned duties, including obtaining instrument count sheets, special handling instructions for instrumentation, documenting sterilization loads, and other tasks
  • Military experience, such as Hospital Corpsmen (HM), Machinery Repairman (MR), Aircraft Maintenance Technician (2A3X3), Biomedical Equipment Specialist (68A), Small Arms Repairer (91F), or similar, will be considered

Responsibilities

  • Be responsible for the safe, efficient practices for decontamination, instrument assembly, wrapping and sterilization of all reprocessed instruments, equipment distribution and case care management.
  • Perform case pull functions.
  • Determine appropriate case carts to be built for specialty procedures.
  • Dispatch case carts to ensure they are available for surgical/clinical procedures.
  • Perform recordkeeping functions, such as processing, sterilization, quality assurance and more.
  • Order and stock supplies.
  • Maintain adequate levels and inventory of supplies.
