The Sterile Processing Instrument Technician is responsible for the cleaning, sterilization, distribution, and recording of patient reusable supplies and equipment and the decontamination and assembly of instruments for the OR and throughout the hospital and Mercy Family clinics. The Sterile Processing Instrument Technician is responsible for the OR case carts being properly setup and assures that all the instruments necessary to do the procedure are on the cart, ready for surgical use. The Sterile Processing Instrument Tech is responsible under the direction of a specific OR clinical leader in a specific area for instrument inventory, ordering, vendor and repair of instruments.
