About The Position

This position supports Mercy's philosophy of patient centered care by pre-cleaning, cleaning, assembling, packaging and reprocessing of reusable medical devices. The Central Sterile Aide must have high integrity, the ability to work in a fast-paced, ever-changing area, and the willingness to support/work in many areas of the organization.

Requirements

Must read, write, speak, and comprehend English fluently.
Perform simple math.
Able to work with frequent interruptions and handle multiple tasks.
Have excellent customer service skills and be a team player.

Nice To Haves

Prefer candidate with professional work experience.
Medical background preferred.

Responsibilities

Transports, cleans, and packages reusable medical devices (e.g. scopes, surgical instruments, probes, containers).
Understands reprocessing concepts and workflow.
Transports both dirty and clean instruments to/from end user areas.
Packages instruments.
Cleans reusable instrumentation.
Completes initial and annual competencies as required by the department.
Attends mandatory staff meetings and in-services.
Assists vendors with loaner trays as necessary.
Provides coverage across all Mercy sites of care as required by the department.
General understanding of processes and department workflow.
Learns/Utilizes wrapping methods and packaging processes for instrumentation.
Follows policy and procedures set forth by the department and organization.
Follows Mercy's safety guidelines, carries out job-specific safety duties and responsibilities, and promptly reports any unsafe conditions, situations, incidents and injuries.
