About The Position

What Will You Do? You will create and modify software according to the software development life cycle and in alignment with architectural patterns and technology strategy as specified by the enterprise. As a developer you would evaluate new technologies for fit within the program/system/eco-system and the associated upstream and downstream impacts on process, data, risk (e.g., security). And work toward the objective of defect free software and deliver functionally that meets requirements and aligns with architecture. You would promote the development of performant, reusable and sustainable technology assets for the Bank. And, support the resolution of production issues and make recommendations that will improve RBC’s processes & systems.

Requirements

Must have 2-3 years of experience with IBM mainframe technologies and languages such as IBM Assembler (IBM HLASM), TSO, DB2, REXX, SAS, JCL, etc and understanding of ZOS connect APIs and its interaction with Mainframe systems.
Knowledge of automation using IBM tools in either Dev or QA capacity
Knowledge or related experience working in a mainframe development or production environment.
Knowledge of software development practices, concepts, and technology obtained through formal training and/or work experience.
Understand functional aspects and technical behavior of the underlying operating system, development environment, and deployment practices.

Understands RBC Mainframe environment and strategic goals and advocate for our mainframe technologies. By conducting independent analysis and assessment to resolve strategic issues.

Assesses impact of design decisions to the solution/product/service being developed (i.e. performance, schedule, budget, downstream component/system impact, quality, etc.) and recommends alternate/creative solutions for mitigation/optimization if required.
