About The Position

The Attorney General's Office is looking to hire a Paralegal to assist a group of attorneys focusing on consumer/investor protection issues in cryptocurrency and analogous financial services transactions in our Insurance & Financial Services Division (IFSD). The Division handles investigations, mediations, and enforcement actions related to banking, securities, insurance products, and other financial services.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience, preferred.

  • Demonstrated ability to complete assignments and complex tasks, follow instructions, and produce high-quality work product.
  • Effective writing, internet research, organization, and communication skills.
  • Familiarity with the Massachusetts civil procedure, preferred.
  • Proficiency in programs such as Microsoft Excel and Word.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience providing support in a legal setting or with consumer outreach and mediation is a plus.
  • Familiarity with the Massachusetts civil procedure, preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative and investigative support for attorneys focusing on cryptocurrency, nonfungible tokens, payment processing, account access protocols, and virtual-wallet storage, as well as securitization, lending, and other investment issues.
  • Assist with settlement implementations, mediations, and consumer outreach; and assist IFSD lawyers in ongoing litigation and related investigations.
  • Assist with preparation of court filings and subpoenas, conduct fact-finding, and liaise between the Office and other regulators/third parties from the cryptocurrency industry.
  • Organize and reviewing discovery materials; performing research; managing and reviewing files; entering case information into databases; engaging in extensive communication with settlement beneficiaries, witnesses, experts, and others by mail, electronic mail, and telephone; and assisting in the drafting of various memoranda, consumer advisories, and reports.
  • Input data into Excel and perform sorts and searches of this data.
