Cryogenic Semiconductor Characterization Engineer - 652

QuantinuumBroomfield, CO
1d$113,000 - $141,000

About The Position

We are seeking a Cryogenic Semiconductor Characterization Engineer to join our Broomfield, CO, team and play a hands-on role in developing Quantinuum’s next-generation Apollo and Lumos quantum computers. This is a rare opportunity for an early-to-mid-career physicist or engineer to stand up, own, and operate cryogenic semiconductor characterization from the ground up, directly shaping the technologies that power our system roadmap. In this role, you won’t just run tests—you’ll define the cryogenic characterization strategy, build the infrastructure, and drive execution across multiple systems and technologies. You’ll work side-by-side with ASIC designers, system architects, and experimental physicists in a fast-paced R&D environment where initiative, creativity, and technical depth truly matter. If you’re excited by complex hardware, ultra-low-temperature physics, and seeing your work make it into real quantum machines, this role is for you.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree minimum required
  • 4+ years of experience in an engineering or R&D environment minimum required
  • 3+ years developing test equipment and executing test plans to validate and characterize digital and analog circuits minimum required
  • 2+ years of hands-on experience with cryogenic test chambers minimum required
  • Due to Contractual requirements, must be a U.S. Person defined as, U.S. citizen permanent resident or green card holder, workers granted asylum or refugee status.
  • Due to national security requirements imposed by the U.S. Government, candidates for this position must not be a People's Republic of China national or Russian national unless the candidate is also a U.S. citizen.

  • Strong understanding of EMI/EMC, grounding, and return current paths in sensitive systems
  • Experience with ASIC development and testing
  • Strong Python skills for automation and data analysis
  • Familiarity with the electrical engineering challenges of quantum computers, ion traps, or similar ultra-sensitive systems
  • Clear communicator who produces right-sized, effective design and test documentation

Responsibilities

  • Own cryogenic semiconductor characterization end-to-end, from roadmap definition to daily lab execution
  • Partner with integrated product teams to implement and validate ASICs critical to Quantinuum’s quantum computer roadmap
  • Design and develop electrical interfaces, fixtures, and test equipment for cryogenic environments
  • Automate test execution and data analysis to enable fast, repeatable insight
  • Synthesize test results, understand their impact and present physics, engineers, and leadership
  • Operate and manage cryogenic test chambers and associated lab infrastructure
  • Translate system-level quantum computer requirements and customer needs into clear, verifiable test plans
