About The Position

The Cryogenic Repair & Field Service Technician's primary responsibilities are to support the refurbishment and repair of MRI cryogenic cooling systems, including helium compressors and related components. This role works closely under the guidance of the Senior Repair Technician and plays a key part in ensuring equipment is tested, documented, and restored to meet operational standards while bridging the needs to support local cryogenic field service appointments or act as a backup for cryogenic field service team. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or associate degree preferred.
  • 1-3 years of experience in mechanical or electronic repair, preferably in a medical or industrial setting.
  • Familiarity with cryogenic systems, vacuum technology, or MRI equipment is a plus.
  • Strong attention to detail and documentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Basic computer skills for data entry and reporting.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge and understanding of oncology and/or diagnostic imaging equipment.
  • Effective use of Enterprise systems, email, search engine, Internet; ability to effectively use Microsoft Products: Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams; ability to use and understand Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software.

Responsibilities

  • Works under the guidance of the Senior Repair Technician to support the daily operations of the cryogenic refurbishment team.
  • Performs testing, diagnostics, and documentation of MRI cryogenic cooling systems, including helium compressors and related components.
  • Prepares equipment for technician check-out, ensuring system performance meets required specifications and standards.
  • Evaluates, diagnoses, troubleshoots, refurbishes, repairs, and recertifies incoming equipment, maintaining detailed records of work performed.
  • Operates, maintains, and troubleshoots a variety of tools and part finish processing equipment.
  • Uses precision measuring tools to qualify product components while meeting production goals and cycle times.
  • Supports the upkeep and monitoring of additional systems such as water chillers, air compressors, customer magnets, and leak detectors.
  • Maintains effective equipment preservation using refurbishment tools, hand tools, testing equipment, hand trucks, and pallet jacks.
  • Manages inventory of required components and communicates proactively about material needs.
  • Collaborates with the team and Technical Operations Manager to allocate workload and ensure compliance with quality standards and procedures.
  • Provides technical support to field employees and customers in coordination with other departments.
  • Identifies and recommends process improvements to enhance efficiency and performance.
  • Maintains a clean, organized, and safe work environment, adhering to all company policies and safety practices.
  • Works professionally and effectively with all levels of the organization.
  • Installs new or modified equipment at customer's facility to ensure full functionality according to specifications.
  • Reviews performance reports and documentation from customers and field representatives and inspects malfunctioning or damaged product to determine nature and scope of problem and recommends repair, replacement, or other corrective action.
  • Analyzes review and inspection findings to determine source of problem and recommends repair, replacement, or other corrective action.
  • Coordinates problem resolution with engineering, customer service, and other personnel to expedite repairs.
  • Provides onsite technical assistance to help troubleshoot and repair equipment.
  • Maintains records of equipment performance reports; develops service handbooks and bulletins based on field investigations, engineering changes, and overall knowledge of product.
  • Analyzes reports of technical problems to determine trends affecting future design, production, service, and maintenance processes; recommends modifications to eliminate future problems.
  • Provides a communication link between the customer and the company to ensure that effective service is provided.
  • Complies with policies, procedures, guidelines, and regulatory requirements per ISO:13485 2016 standards and the Company's Quality Management System.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
