About The Position

FNF Construction, a MasTec company, is currently hiring for a Crusher Mechanic. The Mechanic is responsible for maintaining and servicing fleet heavy equipment and vehicles, ensuring their safety and longevity through routine checks, repairs, and diagnostic work. This role involves hands-on mechanical tasks, troubleshooting, and adherence to safety regulations.

Requirements

  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos
  • Ability to locate, read, understand and follow instructions outlined in SDS material safety data sheets
  • Ability to write simple correspondence
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, verbal, or diagram form
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
  • Must be available to work overtime as required for position
  • Cooperative, punctual, and detail oriented
  • Must be able to utilize electronic devices such as a smart phone to send and receive email and communicate from job site locations to corporate office and supervision
  • Must be able to work safely and follow all instructions related to Company policies and regulatory agencies during the performance of duties
  • High School diploma or GED
  • Minimum one-year certification from college or technical school in fleet repairs or vehicle maintenance
  • Minimum six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience

Nice To Haves

  • Aerial Lift Operator Training Certification preferred
  • Automotive Service Excellence Mechanics Certification (A.S.E Certification) preferred

Responsibilities

  • Maintaining and servicing fleet heavy equipment and vehicles
  • Be knowledgeable of the hazards and safety requirements of the job, and utilize required personal protective equipment (welder’s shield, etc.)
  • Observes mechanical devices in operation and listens to their sounds to locate causes of trouble
  • Examine critical parts and operating components of heavy equipment for possible wear and tear, defects, or other damage
  • Perform routine maintenance checks on company owned and/or leased vehicles and equipment to ensure safety and longevity of the vehicle/equipment
  • Repair, replace, clean, and lubricate vehicle/equipment parts as necessary
  • Examine, and repair, if necessary, hydraulic components for fluid leaks, ruptured hoses, or worn gaskets
  • Use hand-held computers or other diagnostic devices to diagnose components in need of adjustment or repair
  • Use jacks, cranes, and various hand-held tools to dismantle and reassemble parts
  • May be required to rebuild or replace engines, repair hydraulic fluid pumps, correct electrical problems
  • Start devices to test their performance
  • Pressure washing
  • Ability to operate various types of light and heavy equipment and over the road trucks for maneuvering into service and repair locations
  • Requests spare parts
  • Travel to job site to make repairs to heavy equipment as necessary
  • Maintains a high level of workplace housekeeping
  • Maintains a high level of customer satisfaction
  • All other duties as assigned
  • Maintains a safe work environment and ensures all established Company safety rules, procedures, policies, DOT, OSHA and MSHA regulations are followed
