About The Position

Thalle Construction Co., Inc. is pleased to announce a career opportunity for a Crusher and Screener Operator on the Central Everglades Planning Project (CEPP) Everglades Agricultural Area (EAA) A-2 Reservoir in Palm Beach County, Florida. This project marks the largest contract in the Jacksonville District’s history, valued at $2.87 billion. Thalle will oversee the construction of a 17.75-mile embankment dam and associated structures. This project offers potential Project Team members a valuable opportunity to broaden their professional experience and advance their careers throughout its duration. The CEPP plays a vital role in Everglades restoration, aiming to enhance ecosystem health, improve water storage, and increase resilience to climate change. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Previous experience working around crushers, screeners, conveyors, or aggregate operations preferred.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn plant operations and safety procedures.
  • Ability to receive and follow written and oral instructions.
  • Ability to work effectively with supervisors, operators, and other crew members.
  • Strong commitment to contributing to a culture of safety, teamwork, and reliability.
  • Performing physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials.
  • Work long shifts with non-standard break times.
  • Work in a variety of weather conditions with exposure to the elements.
  • Must have good hand-eye coordination, quick reaction times.
  • Able to work in confined or enclosed spaces.
  • Able to sit for long periods of time.
  • Able to wear a hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, and safety-toed boots.
  • Able to walk moderate distances to reach work area (1/2 mile or more)
  • Able to Enter the cab of a vehicle that is 3.5 feet (or more) off the ground.
  • Able to sit in the operator’s seat of equipment and safely reach all pedals, switches, levers, buttons, etc. required to safely operate the equipment (if authorized for that piece of equipment)
  • Capable of sitting in the operator’s seat of equipment and have an adequate field of vision of all instruments, gauges, warning lights, as well as an acceptable field of vision out of the windows and/or mirrors (if authorized for that piece of equipment)
  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
  • Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards
  • Must be able to talk, listen and speak clearly on telephone

Responsibilities

  • Provide ground support for crusher, screener, and stacking operations to ensure safe and efficient plant performance.
  • Assist with plant set-up, tear-down, and repositioning under the direction of plant supervision.
  • Perform routine housekeeping around crushers, screeners, conveyors, and stockpiles, including shoveling, sweeping, and removal of spillage.
  • Monitor conveyor belts, chutes, and discharge points for material build-up, spillage, or abnormal operation and report issues promptly.
  • Safely assist with clearing material blockages in accordance with lockout/tagout and safety procedures.
  • Support plant maintenance activities, including greasing, belt tracking, screen changes, and replacement of wear components, as directed.
  • Assist operators with adjusting screen decks, conveyor positions, and stockpile locations.
  • Follow all company safety policies, including taking specific action to avoid other workers, equipment, and potential obstructions.
  • Maintain clean, orderly, and safe work areas around plant equipment and walkways.
  • Communicate effectively with plant operators and equipment operators to support production flow.
  • Be capable and willing to perform general manual labor and other tasks as assigned.
