About The Position

The Children's Hospital - Oklahoma City, OK OU Health's Respiratory Care department is an AARC Quality Care recognized department, and we are proud to maintain a strong focus on quality, safety and patient satisfaction so we can meet the many unique needs of our patients. We use a team approach to treat and provide a range of pulmonary interventions and therapies for women and children. Under general supervision, will provide services for the Respiratory Therapy Department in a timely and efficient manner for all appropriate age levels and in all areas that are served by the department.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree (or higher) from an accredited Respiratory Care Program.
  • 0-3 years of experience.
  • Licensed by the Oklahoma Board of Medical Licensure and Supervision as a Respiratory Care Practitioner.
  • Eligible to sit for the certifying exam administered by the National Board of Respiratory Care; must receive this certification (CRTT) within six (6) months of hire.
  • Current Basic Life Support issued by the American Heart Association required upon hire.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (American Heart Association) required if working in the Pediatric ICU.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (American Heart Association) required if working in the Pediatric ICU.
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program required if working in the Neonatal ICU.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of procedures and techniques of Respiratory Therapy and the operation and repair of respiratory equipment.
  • Knowledge of patient care as it relates to the pulmonary and cardiac system, age of the patient and the ability to interpret the appropriate information to identify patient's needs.
  • Ability to work under stress.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to maintain a good working relationship with coworkers and staff.
  • Some computer skills.

Responsibilities

  • Administers therapeutic treatments as prescribed by medical staff.
  • Records treatment information and patient's treatment response in their computerized medical record.
  • Act as a resource person to medical staff.
  • Perform invasive and noninvasive diagnostic testing and monitoring of patients.
  • Provide age appropriate care to patients.
  • Ensure that respiratory equipment is cleaned and maintained.
  • Maintain necessary respiratory therapy records.
  • Will be part of the quick response team for cardiac and respiratory arrests.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
