The position involves assisting the Ski Manager with operational goals and ensuring safety measures in skiing and snowshoeing. The role includes teaching cross-country skiing effectively and maintaining a pleasant environment for guests.
Requirements
Valid Driver’s License and at least 21 years of age, or 20 years of age with two years of licensed driving experience.
Competent skills in cross-country skiing.
CPR and First Aid Certification preferred.
Responsibilities
Assist the Ski Manager with operational goals and procedures.
Teach cross-country skiing in a safe manner.
Maintain a safe and pleasant ski environment for guests.
Promote Mohonk Mountain House’s cross-country skiing and snowshoeing experience.
Ski up to six miles per day.
Organize and communicate guest needs and potential events to the Ski Manager.
Record and coordinate ski lesson reservations.
Handle daily office procedures including answering phones and filling out reports.
Maintain a clean and orderly appearance in the Ski Shop.
Organize and maintain a rental system for skiing and snowshoeing equipment.
Interact professionally with guests and co-workers.
Communicate effectively with ski and activities staff.
Perform minor maintenance on rental equipment.
Make trail recommendations based on safety and skier ability.
Inspect trail conditions and recommend maintenance.
Assist with snow maintenance and removal.
Sell merchandise in the Ski Shop.
Refill gas cans for snowmobiles as needed.
Perform daily cleaning protocols.
Work weekends and holidays as needed.
Handle pressure situations calmly.
Inspect the work of others for conformance to standards.
Analyze problems and implement action plans.
Perform physical tasks including lifting and walking long distances.
