About The Position
York County Community College (YCCC), a dynamic institution with a proud 30-year history of transforming lives and communities throughout York County, Maine, is seeking an enthusiastic and strategic individual to join our team as the Head Cross Country Coach. This position is essential for leading our cross country program, recruiting skilled student-athletes, and fostering a supportive and competitive environment. The new Head Cross Country Coach will play a crucial role in overseeing the program, integrating athletic training with academic achievement, and maintaining high standards of discipline and integrity. The ideal candidate will be an experienced coach with a strong understanding of cross country strategies, training techniques, and athlete development. They will be responsible for planning training sessions, coordinating travel to meets, ensuring compliance with all safety protocols, and adhering to departmental and YCCC policies. Furthermore, the coach will actively monitor the academic progress of student-athletes, support their academic success by overseeing mandatory study hall hours during the season, and facilitate referrals to other student support resources. The successful candidate will ensure that our student-athletes excel both on the course and in the classroom, embodying the college's commitment to both athletic and academic excellence.
