About The Position

We are looking for a Crop Protection District Sales Manager to join our Agricultural Solutions team in support of the Southern MN and Eastern ND district. BASF’s Agricultural Solutions division connects innovation, customers, partners and agricultural experts and integrates sustainability criteria into all business decisions. We help farmers deliver the best possible outcomes, working to achieve the balance between economic, environmental and social value creation for sustainable and efficient agriculture. As a District Sales Manager, you will act as the primary representative of BASF to field staff, the marketplace, and key industry stakeholders or trade organizations. In this role, you will be responsible for leading retail and grower-focused resources within your geography, which includes managing both direct reports and influencing indirect reports. Additionally, you will be accountable for the defined financial performance in your assigned district.

Requirements

  • Possess a Bachelor's Degree in Sales, Marketing, or a related field.
  • Have 10+ years of experience in Sales and/or Marketing.
  • Have proven experience in managing a team of sales professionals and leading them to achieve targets.
  • Demonstrate strong interpersonal and communication skills to develop successful business relationships and align with key customers.
  • Are willing to travel approximately 25-30% of the time, primarily within the district, to engage with direct reports and customers.
  • Showcase a track record of leadership, people management, and interaction skills, along with good judgment in motivating, coaching, and recruiting a high-performing team.

Responsibilities

  • Overseeing sales, people development, and customer engagement targets within your geography.
  • Achieving targets by leading your team in translating and deploying the national marketing strategy into sales execution plans for their local areas, while advocating for BASF and the agriculture industry.
  • Developing Strong Business Relationships by utilizing strong interpersonal and communication skills to align with key customers in your geography, maintaining direct relationships with top 30+ influencers/customers.
  • Being part of the Midwest Region Leadership Team and contributing to short and long-term strategy development regarding sales planning, execution, customer segmentation, and people development.
  • Acting as a role model by promoting staff engagement, cultural values, and embracing the use of data beyond sales figures as key characteristics of a successful field sales staff.
  • Demonstrating strong leadership ability by establishing and cultivating a culture of high performance that seeks continuous improvement and embraces the need for practice and constant communication.
