About The Position

Farm Bureau Financial Services has a new internship opportunity available for individuals to gain experience in the crop insurance industry. This position will have some field and office responsibilities. During the internship, you’ll be exposed to other lines of insurance with a primary focus on crop insurance.

Requirements

  • Be a current college student, preferably with an ag or business related major.
  • Have a genuine interest in a career path in the insurance/agriculture industry.
  • Strong knowledge of Outlook, Microsoft Word, and Excel is required.
  • Be an effective communicator with excellent customer service skills.
  • Be team-focused.
  • Be available to work at least 30 hours per week during the time of the internship.

  • Farmer and Rancher looking to supplement ag income.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in a full crop insurance cycle alongside one of the department’s Regional Crop Consultants.
  • Learn about Multi-Peril, Crop Hail, Private Products, Pasture, Rangeland, and Forage, and the Livestock policy types.
  • Job shadow Ag Marketing Underwriters and Agents to witness how different lines of insurance work.
  • Meet with Rain and Hail’s marketing and claim representatives.
  • Spend 70% of work time in the field learning with Regional Crop Consultants, Ag Marketing Underwriters, and Agents.
  • Spend 30% of work time training and processing crop insurance paperwork in an office.
  • Present what was learned to the state management team at the end of the internship.
