About The Position

Great American Insurance Group's Crop Division is seeking a Claims Adjuster in Mississippi. This role is fully remote within the territory and requires up to 40% travel. The ideal candidate will have prior crop insurance claims experience. Requirements

  • Generally, a minimum of 6 months of experience in general agriculture, ag business/sales, agronomy, and/or grain merchandising.
  • Ability to travel up to 40% within the territory.
  • Regular and predictable attendance.
  • Ability to conduct visual inspections.
  • Work outdoors, in inclement weather conditions.
  • Frequent travel.

Nice To Haves

  • Crop Insurance experience is highly favorable.

Responsibilities

  • Manages an inventory of crop related claims to evaluate compensability/liability.
  • Conducts claim investigations to confirm coverage and to determine liability, compensability and damages. This includes crop field work and knowledge of grain marketing.
  • Determines and may negotiate appropriate claim settlements/reserves within prescribed authority.
  • May attend arbitrations, mediations, depositions, or trials.
  • Conveys routine to moderately complex information regarding coverage and settlements to insureds, claimants, and external partners.
  • May authorize payments in accordance with assigned authority limit and ensure payments are made in a timely manner.
  • Maintains accurate and detailed claim files, including all correspondence, reports, and settlement agreements.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
