About The Position

We are seeking a full-time Family Certified Nurse Practitioner Resident who will work alongside preceptors to provide the full range of out-patient comprehensive medical care to patients from pediatrics through senior citizens. This program will prepare FNPs for careers in organizations that provide care to underserved populations. The Nurse Practitioner Resident will participate in variety of rotations including precepted clinics where they will see their own primary care patients, mentored clinics where they will work together with an experienced provider, and specialty clinics including but not limited to behavioral health, women's health, pediatrics, urgent care, among others. The resident will also participate in weekly didactic sessions Practice Information Primary Health Network (PHN) in Sharon, PA is a Federally Qualified Health Center that is TJC accredited. We are celebrating our 39th year of embracing excellence in healthcare. At Primary Health Network we strive to assist our patients toward a fuller, healthier lifestyle. PHN accepts all patients regardless of their insurance or financial status and offer the sliding fee scale to all income eligible uninsured or underinsured patients based on annual household income along with a 340b drug pricing program. Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited School for Nurse Practitioners.
  • Certified as a Registered Nurse Practitioner.
  • Current licensure in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and willing to obtain licensure in the state of Ohio.
  • Completed application for Certified Nurse Practitioner Residency
  • Three letters of recommendations submitted with application. Suggested letters of recommendation from academic program director or faculty member, clinical preceptor, and current or previous supervisor.
  • Personal statement describing what interests you in completing a residency program at a federally qualified health center

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate, examine diagnose, and treat patients of all ages, from pediatrics to geriatrics in accordance with protocols developed for Nurse Practitioner's specialty.
  • Perform routine physical examinations, including periodic gynecological examinations with Pap smears and breast examinations.
  • Assess and treat acute illnesses such as URI's, UTI's, Gyn problems, etc.
  • Provide routine pediatric exams and immunization updates (i.e. Well Baby exams.)
  • Assist the provider in following patients with chronic disease follow-ups such as hypertension, diabetes, CAD, asthma, etc. (if applicable)
  • Perform simple and uncomplicated suturing of lacerations, basic first aid, and removal of any minor skin lesions if necessary.
  • Promote preventative medicine with proper patient education and counseling.
  • Assess any emergency situation that may arise and direct the problem to the proper facility and/or physician.
  • Assist in the routine care of OB patients during the prenatal time (if applicable).
  • Order, review and interpret (preliminary), any lab or radiological studies if necessary.
  • Have a physician available for consultation at all time whether it is by telephone or in presence.
  • Provide evaluation, treatment and education regarding STD's and birth control.
  • Triage phone calls if necessary.
  • Participate in all educational activities as part of the nurse practitioner residency program
