About The Position

CPIhealth is seeking a self-motivated, service-minded, and confident Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) Per Diem to join our team to work in collaboration with physicians and medical professionals at our Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) to administer intravenous, MAC (monitored anesthesia care) and general anesthesia prior to invasive procedures and/or surgical cases. These procedures include radiofrequencies, nerve blocks, spinal cord stimulator and intrathecal pain pump trials along with permanent placement of spinal cord stimulators, intrathecal pain pumps minimally invasive spine surgeries. CRNA also cares for the patient before, during and after a medical procedure or surgery by performing a patient assessment, preparing the patient for anesthesia, administering and maintaining the anesthesia to ensure proper sedation and pain management, overseeing patient recovery from anesthesia and caring for the patient's immediate post-operative needs.

Requirements

  • Credentialed as an Independent Licensed Practitioner (ILP) the ASCs prior to providing care.
  • Advanced Practice Nurse Provider (APNP) certified and licensed required.
  • The CRNA is authorized and therefore skilled in delivering comprehensive pain management and anesthesia care to patients. All the accepted anesthetic techniques and modalities including epidural, spinal, peripheral nerve block, simple sedation, or local administration of anesthetic agents are within the scope of practice.
  • Desire to serve patients and be self-motivated while exhibiting sound judgment, intellectual honesty, appropriate interpersonal skills and the capacity to react to emergencies in a calm and reasoned manner.
  • Excellent bedside manner, emotional stability, and the ability to make decisions in emergencies.
  • Respect for other, adherence to the concepts of privilege and confidentiality in communicating with patients, and a commitment to the patient’s welfare are essential attributes.
  • Strong organizational, communication and analytical skills.
  • Excellent judgment.

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • EMR Software knowledge preferred.
  • Continuing Professional Education and Development
  • Certification by AANA.
  • Advanced Practice Nurse Provider (APNP) certified and licensed required.
  • Current State RN license
  • BLS certified or obtain certification within three months of hire. ACLS certification or obtain certification within the first year of hire.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in Orthopedics or other relevant areas helpful.
  • EMR Software knowledge preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Management of the patient while in the OR with clear direction to ancillary staff as to when monitors can be removed and when the patient can be moved and transported.
  • Confer with physician on assessment, diagnosis and plan of treatment, especially regarding care of patients undergoing radiofrequency ablations, trial and permanent intrathecal pumps and spinal cord stimulator placements, and minimally invasive spine surgeries.
  • Monitor patient's reactions and vital signs during and after anesthesia and take remedial action when warranted.
  • Checking the readiness, availability, cleanliness, sterility when required and working conditions of all the equipment used in the administration of anesthetic agents prior to administering anesthesia.
  • Ensuring safe clinical and surgical procedures are provided to patients.
  • Following individual physician protocols regarding anesthesia administration.
  • Perform a pre-procedure assessment, review of H&P and answer patient questions in a timely and courteous manner.
  • Correct application of hemodynamic monitoring equipment, including BP cuff, Pulse oximetry probe, oxygen administration and EKG and/or ETCO2 monitoring, if indicated.
  • Assembling, maintaining and inspecting the anesthesia equipment and supplies prior to the start of each work day and before each case that would require its utilization.
  • Documentation of all hemodynamic parameters.
  • Documentation of all interventions including medication administration.
  • Accurate accounting of all controlled substances, including Propofol, at the beginning and end of shift with an RN or other healthcare professional.
  • Advising personnel responsible for post-anesthetic care of specific problems presented by the patient's condition.
  • Follow safe clinical procedures and correct non-compliance issues in a professional manner.
  • Document patient information in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Submit post-operative reports on patient's condition and maintain records of anesthetics administered.
  • Assist in the transport of patients.
  • Maintain professional credentials and take a leadership role in peer education.
  • Mentor, motivate and train peers and clinical staff.
  • Effective communication with staff.
  • Attend regularly scheduled company, department, and peer meetings.
  • Provide coverage and support to facilities within the organization where needed.
  • Provide assistance in other areas as requested by physicians and site managers.
